Quote of the Day, 7/31/06

From one of my all-time favorite books, John Irving's A Prayer for Owen Meany....
I have learned that the consequences of our past actions are always interesting. I have learned to view the present with a forward-looking eye.

The copy of the book on my shelf isn't mine -- it belongs to an old friend Chris P, who leant it to me more than 7 years ago when we both lived in Los Angeles. If I ever track him down, maybe I'll return it....

Owen Meany is my favorite book - although it's so hard to pick one - that may be it(Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin frequently vies for the top spot with OM). Love Irving in general but this is the gem of his literary career, I think. Thank you for the quote. I love your blog - it is full of passion and life!!

thanks so much ... Owen Meany still surprises me, even though I've read it several times
