Happy Thanksgiving!

I'll be on the road and doing Thanksgiving and (ack!) high-school-reunion things for the next several days. Blogging will be intermittent, but I'll try to keep up.

In the meantime, I want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who are celebrating the holiday and a wonderful week to you all.

Oh yeah... This will be the first year our turkey will be prepared like this. Should I be scared?

According to Underwriters Labs you should be very afraid!

"Based on our test findings, the fryers used to produce those great-tasting birds are not worth the risks. And, as a result of these tests, UL has decided not to certify any turkey fryers with our trusted UL Mark."

They have some very impressive video on their site of these things going up in flames.

(There are some funky things going on with Blogger's comments today.)

Summarizing the comments above, let others do the cooking and have a great weekend!

Vegetarian girl here. Save the turkeys!

Hi, Nancy. I'm a vegetarian too, but my brother has been cooking the family turkey this way for the past few years, and everyone else seems to love it. No fires, no injuries thus far.

Happy Thanksgiving!
