Quote of the Day, 11/28/06: Nonsense

I came across this first one yesterday, and thought it was worth sharing. So I've gathered a few quotes about nonsense for today. But I found more than usual which I liked, so I'm going to display them a bit differently this time.

Dr. Seuss
I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities.

Carl Jung
The pendulum of the mind oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong.
.
.
.
.

Carl Sagan
Skeptical scrutiny is the means, in both science and religion, by which deep insights can be winnowed from deep nonsense.
.
.

E. M. Forster

Nonsense and beauty have close connections.

.

.

.

Stephen Jay Gould
Even the standard example of ancient nonsense - the debate about angels on pinheads - makes sense once you realize that theologians were not discussing whether five or eighteen would fit, but whether a pin could house a finite or an infinite number.

Love the first one.

I like Jung's quote. It kind of explains why people that are inherently good (I continue to believe that) can do so many evil things.
