The End is Near - Unfortunately!

Just under 4 days until Lemony Snicket's Book the Thirteenth, The End is available at your local bookstore. To get you in the proper mental state, a few tidbits....

First, check out these lovely little videos advertising the final book. I especially like the first one, 12 books in 120 seconds, because, well, it's Tim Curry. But the last is pretty fun too -- sort of goth Bob Dylan. When you watch the videos, pay attention to some letters that serve as clues. If you've already looked at The Beatrice Letters, the message revealed won't come as a surprise, but it's fun nonetheless.

Next, don't forget to read the wonderful quotes Miss Erin is featuring on her blog. She is picking out great bits!

And finally, I offer these bits and pieces from the books so far....

A Series of Unfortunate Events, the dedications:

Book the First: The Bad Beginning
To Beatrice --
darlling, dearest, dead.

Book the Second: The Reptile Room
For Beatrice --
My love for you will live forever.
You, however, did not.

Book the Third: The Wide Window
For Beatrice --
I would much prefer it if you were alive and well.

Book the Fourth: The Miserable Mill
To Beatrice --
My love flew like a butterfly
Until death swooped down like a bat
As the poet Emma Montana McElroy said:
"That's the end of that."

Book the Fifth: The Austere Academy
For Beatrice --
You will always be in my heart,
in my mind,
and in your grave.

Book the Sixth: The Ersatz Elevator
For Beatrice --
When we met, my life began.
Soon afterward, yours ended.

Book the Seventh: The Vile Village
For Beatrice --
When we were together I felt breathless.
Now, you are.

Book the Eighth: The Hostile Hospital

For Beatrice --
Summer without you is as cold as winter.
Winter without you is even colder.

Book the Ninth: The Carnivorous Carnival
For Beatrice --
Our love broke my heart,
and stopped yours.

Book the Tenth: The Slippery Slope
For Beatrice --
When we met, you were pretty, and I was lonely.
Now, I am pretty lonely.

Book the Eleventh: The Grim Grotto
For Beatrice --
Dead women tell no tales.
Sad men write them down.

Book the Twelfth: The Penultimate Peril
For Beatrice --
No one could extinguish my love,
or your house.

The Beatrice Letters
To Beatrice
and
From Her.

My favorite dedications are from The Miserable Mill and The Vile Village. And I had not read that copyright statement before....lol!

(Am I the only one who cannot seem to find the hidden clue in the Vile Videos? *sigh*)

I think my favorites are from The Bad Beginning and the Penultimate Peril, but it's a tough call.

If you watch the videos closely, look for letters. You may have to pause. Write them down, exactly as they are on the screen. If you put the letters from the three videos side by side, you'll see it.

Well, I found and wrote down the letters, but I'm lost. *sigh* I'll have to ask my dad for help, he's read the books plus he loves mind and letter puzzles. :)
